The extension-arm, which includes a conveyer belt, can swing over the ship up to a length of 30 m. At the outer end of the arm, the spiral chute, with which the sacks are precisely positioned into the freight hold of the ship, hangs vertically.
The chutes can include a turning-plate for even alignment of the sacks. Among other things they can also be equipped with a 2- or 3-stepped telescope-loading-head with a maximum length of 8m, which transports the sacks as far as into the last corner of the freight hold at the push of a button.
Derived from nature, the spiral chute was designed specifically for this task. Helically winding itself around the middle-tube, the precisely welded segments of the chute add up to an exactly calculated rise, resulting in a steadily maintained slide-speed of the material. Not without a reason, SMB Shiploading is proud of this unique spiral chute.
